Caulking Wires

Caulking wires are specialized metallic sealing elements widely used in steam turbine sealing systems, turbine diaphragms, gland assemblies, and other high-temperature industrial applications requiring controlled leakage prevention and precision sealing performance.

In steam turbines, caulking wires are commonly used in conjunction with sealing strips, gland seals, and diaphragm sealing arrangements where precise fitting and leakage control are critical. The wires help secure sealing components in position while also reducing steam bypass and minimizing energy losses within turbine stages.

Caulking wires are manufactured using carefully selected materials depending on turbine operating conditions, thermal expansion characteristics, corrosion resistance requirements, and mechanical strength demands. Common materials include stainless steel grades, brass alloys, nickel-based alloys, and high-temperature resistant materials suitable for steam and gas turbine environments.

These wires are extensively used in steam turbines operating in thermal power plants, combined cycle plants, nuclear power stations, refineries, petrochemical industries, captive power plants, and industrial rotating equipment applications.
